The Minnesota Timberwolves trade for 6ft 10 280 pound Center Nathan Jawai for a conditional 2nd round draft pick. He is a project center who is also known as "Baby Shaq" He has only played in 6 games of his NBA Career with the Toronto Raptors.
In 2007-08 he played in the National Basketball League in Australia and averaged 17 points 9 rebounds and a block in 30 minutes per game.

Multiple player injurys plauging the Timberwolves.

But, the fans did have something to cheer about with all the new talent and potential that our roster brought to the table, but now Timberwolves fans do not have as much to cheer for in the beginning of the regular season because Kevin Love is getting surgery on his hand today and could be out for 4-8 weeks. Along Al Jefferson who is out indefinitely because of his Achilles Tendon. The Timberwolves cannot catch a break and missing both there starting Center and Power Forward who were going to be the leaders of this team does not help them at all either. The front court is going to be looking very bland for a while.
My opinion the Timberwolves should go with a small lineup of
C: Ryan Hollins 7ft
PF: Ryan Gomes 6ft 8 in
SF: Corey Brewer 6ft 9
SG: Wayne Ellington 6ft 4
PG: Johnny Flynn 6-0
When you put it in prospective it is not a very small lineup, but Gomes would be playing out of place but he has seen PF minutes before, you would have a very tall SF in Corey Brewer but he is not seen as an offensive threat but if he stays undercontrol on both sides of the court i could see him being a 10-6-3 player at best, which is not what everyone wants to see from one of our former first round picks but hopefully we could carry the load. This is also a great time to get Ryan Hollins some playing time so that he can show everyone that he was worth his steal of a deal contract that we offered him (Three year deal worth only 7 million).
But in all reality the starting lineup will most likely look like this.
C: Ryan Hollins 7ft
PF: Oleksiy Pecherov 7ft
SF: Ryan Gomes 6ft 8
SG: Corey Brewer 6ft 9
PG: Johnny Flynn 6ft
With a bench of
Wayne Ellington
Ramon Sessions
Brian Cardinal
Jason Hart
Aleksander Pavlovic
Damien Wilkins
Antonio Daniels
Suits (reserve/injury)
1. Al Jefferson
2. Kevin Love
3. Mark Blount
Since we have such a week front court i would like to see the Timberwolves bring back Mark Madsen and/or former 2nd round pick Chris Richard. Richard does not look like he is going to make it out of Bulls camp because the Bulls need another wing player and not a PF/C so Chris Richard could be signed for the minimum and since Madsen is a free agent he very well could possibly be signed for the veteran minimum even though we traded him not to long ago, he has a very good relationship with the Wolves and still want to play there if he has the opportunity.
To make the roster spots for them we could trade Mark Blount and Wilkins and Antonio Daniels or they would outright waive them because neither of them have that much trade value.
These injurys are really hurting the Timberwolves, but who knows..maybe we will have more to cheer about next year with a lineup of Flynn/Wall/Gomes/Love/Jefferson Lineup.
The Minnesota T-Wolves lineup for the 2009-10 NBA season
Posted by Dan | 9/30/2009 09:47:00 AM | 1 comments »As we find ourselves a month away from what seems to be another exciting NBA season, it’s no surprise that the Minnesota Timberwolves are gearing up for their 21st season with their first game against the New Jersey Nets on October 28, 2009.
Just like any team going through a period of transition, thanks to operational changes and with its key players suffering injuries last season, one gets the feeling that things might be improve this year despite the controversial exit of Ricky Rubio, in deciding to move back to Spain.
Most experts however think differently but you can never know for sure, as surprises are part and parcel of this game, with so many factors determining whether a game is won or lost.
With a mix of youth and experience that this team has now, one can only hope that they will better their stats in 2009-10 over last season’s performance which was their franchise’s twentieth anniversary in the NBA as well.
Here is the anticipated starting five for the Minnesota T-Wolves for the 2009-10 NBA season:
Point Guard - Johnny Flynn
Shooting Guard - Wayne Ellington
Small Forward- Ryan Gomes
Power Forward - Kevin Love
Center - Al Jefferson
Let’s play ball!
